Jaffer Agro Services (JAS) - HEIS Field Day at Layyah

Event Objective: To Discuss Cotton Crop Production Technology under HEIS in Thal Conditions

Event Details:
A field day was carried out by JAS in which Project Director of Thal Project with his team and officials of Farm Water Management of Layyah and Bhakkar districts participated with farmers.

HEIS Agronomist explained objectives of field day that had been arranged to share farming experience with drip and to meet prime objective of production enhancement in future with drip irrigation based upon past experience and success of Jaffer Drip Irrigation System in Thal area since 2008-09.

After briefing participants were brought to the cotton field. Farmers Mr. Ahmad Mujtaba, Mr. B. A. Khan and Mr. Ghulam Kibriya Khan explained standing cotton crop in the field on drip irrigation also about how third crop on drip irrigation system was successfully sown on the same beds following the zero tillage methodology with effective use of fertilizer by fertigation through drip irrigation system. Farmers observed performance of different varieties of cotton on drip irrigation system.

Furthermore, Manager Farm Development-JAS explained the importance of nutrition to maximize production for having real benefit of farming on drip irrigation. The range of water soluble fertilizers being offered by JAS and their use at different stages of the crop, were also discussed along with importance of amino acids for the stress management especially in cotton and series of Wokozim. During this session issue of Cotton stainer was highlighted by farmers which affected crop quality and damaged color of seed cotton in area. Later they were briefed about pest, how it damaged seed and quality of cotton and its control. Farmers also shared there own experience of cotton sowing.

All farmers were highly satisfied and also appreciated JAS management for introducing new and modern technologies in agriculture sector for betterment of farmer community.
