Jaffer Agro Services (JAS) is a well known and reliable name in the crop farming
community of Pakistan. JAS has been supporting farmers working in fields through
its pesticides, fertilizers, seeds, harvesters and consultancy services for more
than 30 years. JAS’ primary focus is on the supply of farm inputs including pesticides
and fertilizers and to provide consultancy services to farmers in order to increase
their output. Years of working experience with the farming community along with
international agriculture exposure has helped JAS identify new areas of interest,
based on technological advancement and the evolving requirement of the country’s
agriculture sector.
Water soluble fertilizers, Bio-organic stimulants, corporate farming and High Efficiency
Irrigation Systems are some of the new ventures addressed by JAS in collaboration
with the most prestigious names worldwide. By virtue of such technical affiliations,
JAS is able to access the most appropriate modern technology for cost effective
services and has developed the required expertise to serve the farmer community
in an efficient manner.
JAS – Chronology:

1950s:
Jaffer Brothers – Mainly involved
in indenting of pesticides & fertilizer for government of Pakistan.
- Until
1978:
Jaffer brothers started indenting pesticides. JBL was pioneer in pesticides
business representing multinationals like Union Carbide Celamerck, Cheminova, Luxan
etc.
- 1969:
Formulation plant started its operations In Karachi by the name of
‘National Insecticides Company Limited’, as a joint venture between JBL & union
carbide formulating granules & dust.
- 1980:
Marketing operations started as
subsidy on pesticide was withdrawn by government & trade was transferred to
private sector. JBL represents leading MNCs like Cynamid, Union Carbide, Kumiai,
Celamerck, Cheminova, Luxan etc.
- 1980:
JBL went into agreement with Cynamid, USA
for marketing & distribution of Stomp.
- 1981:
Launch of Stomp in Pakistan –
First cotton herbicide introduced in the country.
- 1982:
Company has actively started
multiplication of basic and certified Potato seeds in Abottabad & Swat and distribution
of certified seeds in Pakistan mainly Punjab.
- 1987:
Packaging plant installed
at NICL, Karachi for liquid formulations.
- 1992:
Started marketing & distribution
of Titonic from quality Chinese sources. Titonic is one of the leading brands in
JAS portfolio, catering cotton sucking pest particularly White fly & nymphs.
- 1994:
JBL started marketing & retail distribution of fertilizers in Pakistan.
- 1995:
Cheeta TSP – Acidic phosphate was launched in Pakistan.
- 2000:
Jaffer Agro
Services Launch marketing of Maize hybrid seeds.
- 2003:
Pilot project ‘Agri-bizz’
launched in vicinities of District Gujranwala. The project was launched to help
faming community to get better yields in Paddy & wheat crops through better
farm management in light of farm advisory by JAS on yield sharing basis.
- 2005:
Wokozim, the bio stimulant launched. Wokozim is a breakthrough in its nature. It
is a sea weed extract, helps plant to assimilate available nutrient from the soil.
- 2006:
JBL & Jain Irrigations Pvt. Limited, India agreed for technical collaboration
in order to promote Drip Irrigation system in Pakistan. 1st Drip Irrigation project
installed at Lodhran, Punjab for cotton, chilies and Vegitable crops.
Launch of Water
soluble fertilizers, in the country. Water Soluble fertilizers are applied through
both foliar & fertigation for better nutrition management & increased yields.
- 2007:
Agreement with Lindsay Corporation, USA for Central Pivots & lateral
moves. Lindsay has become a major worldwide force in expanding the benefits of irrigation,
particularly Central pivots while making it more efficient. - 2008:
Installations
of Rain Gun & Lateral move system in Sindh. Launched
most effective Non- Selective herbicides brand Glycel.
- 2009:
JAS launched Kelion a Broad spectrum Rice herbicide and Sonak a Wheat herbicide.
- 2010:
JAS has launched Mera 71 a unique formulation of Non- Selective herbicide with the
collaboration of M/S Excel Crop care India. In addition to that JAS launched Amino
Acids product range (Fertigrain Foliar, Fertigrain Start, Tecamin Max) for Cotton,
Rice, Wheat, Sugarcane and Vegetable crops with the collaboration of M/S AgriTecno
Fertilizantes – Spain.
