Product Information in Urdu (Flyer)
Product Category:
Insecticides
Active Ingredient: Malathion
Chemical Group: Organophosphate
Main Properties:
Fyfanon is a nonsystemic, wide-spectrum organophosphate insecticide. It was one of the earliest organophosphate insecticides developed (introduced in 1950). Fyfanon is suited for the control of sucking and chewing insects on fruits and vegetables, and is also used to control mosquitoes, flies, household insects, animal parasites (ectoparasites), and head and body lice. Fyfanon may also be found in formulations with many other pesticides.
Mode of Action:
Fyfanon disrupts nervous system function by inhibiting the cholinesterase enzyme. Cholinesterase normally terminates nerve transmissions by cleaving the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Inhibition of cholinesterase results in acetylcholine accumulation. Small excess acetylcholine results in over stimulation of the nervous system, and further excess may have the opposite effect. The cholinesterase inhibitory activity of Fyfanon is due primarily to the metabolite malaoxon. Both malathion and malaoxon are detoxified by carboxyesterase enzymes. Carboxyesterase activity is greater in mammals than insects. The lower activity in insects results in malaoxon accumulation and accounts for the higher toxicity of malathion in insects relative to mammals.

Fyfanon is an EC formulation with 57% W/V concentration.
